So Ready to Write More!

I am not at all unique among folks who write and publish novels these days, in that a great, great many of us write while holding down a day job. William Faulkner even advised novelists not to write as a profession, but rather to do so only as a hobby. (He considered himself a farmer by vocation and a writer by avocation. I suppose that reflects a certain zen before zen was a thing in North America.)

Me? I am so ready to write more! Don’t get me wrong. What I do six days a week–teaching–is an honor and can be very gratifying. I’d simply like to have two of myself, one of whom could keep on writing 6-8 hours a day. (Anybody remember the movie Multiplicity? That whole “multiple me” thing didn’t work out so well, did it? So cloning myself? Not really.)

But I am in the place at the moment where I’m ready to sink my teeth into a new project–in earnest. First up will be another short story (I think for release in March). After that, another novel.

So what kind of novel would you rather see me write? The next Emmett Strong novel? Or an entirely new Western with new characters and a completely new premise? Your input would be valuable to me. Really. So don’t hesitate to drop me a response in the comments section below.

Meanwhile, January 4 is a BIG day!

At long last, Strong Ambitions (Emmett Strong Western #3) is being released for Kindle! Prefer Nook or your Android tablet or your phone? Not to worry. There are Kindle apps for a wide variety of devices.

Get Strong Ambitions out, and then get back to writing. That’s my aim–bam, bam. Oh, and teach my eager students, too. A-a-and there’s something else…What is it? [Palms face.] Ah yes. Coming, dear!

Did I tell you I am so ready to write more?

An Emmett Strong Number 4 would be great.

Thanks for your input, John. Emmett and Li’s story is by no means over.
